The Cambridge DPW is working with an outside consultant to provide in-depth retrocommissioning for four City facilities: Citywide Senior Center, Lombardi Building, Area IV Youth Center and Taylor Square Fire House. Through multiple visits to these buildings and close study of their systems and energy use over the next six months, this investigation will provide systematic analysis of each building’s current performance, tune-ups of existing heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC) equipment to ensure as optimal and efficient performance as possible in its current condition, and a comprehensive long-term improvement plan for upgrading building systems to improve occupant comfort and lower costs and energy use. The DPW hopes to use what it learns from the study of these buildings to guide future analysis of other municipal facilities and enhance municipal facilities management, energy tracking and analysis, and systems renewal planning.
