Zero Waste Cambridge Image

In 2009, the City of Cambridge set a goal to reduce residential trash by 30% in 2020 and 80% by 2050. Now there’s a new tool for residents to help the City achieve these goals by properly disposing of household waste.

“Get Rid of It Right”, powered by ReCollect, is now featured on the Department of Public Works’ homepage at www.CambridgeMA.gov/TheWorks. This new tool is a quick and easy way to determine how to get rid of unwanted items in your home. Simply type in the name of an item and we’ll tell you how to dispose of it properly. Think you’re already a waste sorting pro? Challenge yourself to the Waste Sorting Game to test your knowledge.

In addition to these features, the tool also allows you to quickly search for your trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste pick-up schedule as well as your street sweeping schedule so you never miss a pick up or forget to move your car again!

Download the “Zero Waste Cambridge” app for iPhone or Android to get all of this functionality, and more, on your smartphone.
