Construction for the week of March 3, 2014
Broadway Improvements (Third Street to Ames Street)
The contractor will resume work in Spring 2014.
Cambridge Street Tunnel
Due to poor weather conditions, the contractor has seized work indefinitely.
Huron A Project
There will be two crews onsite this week. The first crew is working on the water main on Huron Avenue between Gurney Street and Standish Street. The second crew is on Larch Road working on the installation of catch basins and temporary paving/clean-up.
Huron B Project
There are several crews working the area. One crew is performing drain and sewer work on Huron Avenue at Reservoir Street. Another crew is installing manholes on Huron Avenue at Fayerweather Street. The third crew is on Huron Avenue between Larch Road and Gurney Street removing concrete and old rail tracks. The last crew is on Walden Street performing drain and sewer work.
Concord Ave Project
NSTAR Gas crews are expected to resume work in the area within the next 2-3 weeks.
Travel Advisory: The Department of Public Works Forestry Division has scheduled two tree removals for Sunday, March 9 (weather permitting) in front of 330 Concord Avenue and 331 Concord Avenue. The two trees have been deemed unhealthy by the City Arborist and will be removed to ensure that the safety of residents, pedestrians, motorists and cyclists is not compromised. Due to the large cranes that are needed to remove the trees, Concord Avenue will be closed in both directions from Fayerweather Street to Walden Street between 9am-4pm. Irving Street/Scott Street Construction
Crews have demobilized for the winter season and will mobilize to the area in Spring 2014.
Western Ave Reconstruction Project
There will be a few crews working on the Western Avenue Reconstruction Project this week. One crew is located on Western Avenue between Pleasant Street and Green Street performing sewer and drain line work. Another crew is located on Pleasant Street between Western Avenue and Franklin Street working on the installation of the new water main, and sewer/drain lines. The last crew will be cleaning up various work zones along the avenue.
On Saturday, March 8, crews will be on Western Avenue cleaning and tv'ing the current sewer line. The work is scheduled to take place between 9am-4pm. Every effort will be made to finish as soon as possible. Minimal noise will be associated with the work, as there will be a vacuum truck onsite to assist with the cleaning of the sewer line.
Traffic Impacts for Pleasant Street Work: Pleasant Street, from Massachusetts Avenue to Western Avenue will be closed during general work hours (Monday thru Friday, 7am-4pm) for the next 3 weeks in order for crews to complete utility work. Detour signage will be in place to direct motorists to an alternative route. Pleasant Street abutters will maintain access throughout the duration of the street closure.
