CITY PROJECT UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 18, 2015

Amory Street
Eversouce Gas (formerly known as NStar Gas) has mobilized to Amory Street to replace the outdated gas main and individual services from Broadway to Hampshire Street. This work is expected to take 2 months to complete.

Cambridge Common
This week, the state's contractor, Newport Construction, will continue excavating for the new pathway and installing a new pedestrian traffic signal at Flaggstaff Park. Crews will also be working on the entrance to the park at the Massachusetts Avenue/Waterhouse Street intersection.


Concord Ave Project
Garden Street Traffic Detour:
Please note Garden St. westbound traffic will be detoured to Walden to Concord Ave to the Sozio rotary. The eastbound traffic on Garden St. will remain open. This traffic detour will be in effect from 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, for approximately 2 weeks. Detour signs will be placed to assist you in navigating.

• Garden- Sewer
• Contract wide- Illicit investigations

Streets Impacted: Bay State Road, Concord Avenue and Garden Street

Eversource Gas:
• Blakeslee, Manassas – Spot relocations
• Brattle (Fayerweather to Channing)- Gas main
• Garden Street (Ivy to Walden) - Gas main

Elm & Hampshire Streets Plaza Renovation
Crews will be onsite this week to continue with the reconstruction of the plaza at the intersection of Elm Street and Hampshire Street.

Fairmont Street/Pleasant Street Intersection
There is no work scheduled for the week of May 11, 2015. Crews are scheduled to mobilize to the area to perform work on the new raised crosswalk in mid-June 2015.

Fulkerson Street
The city’s contractor, D’Allessandro Corporation, continues to reconstruct the sidewalks on Fulkerson St, between Cambridge St and Charles St. Remaining work includes  roadway reconstruction and final paving.

Harvard Square Improvements
Full-depth roadway reconstruction is underway and crews are scheduled to place temporary pavement down on Mt. Auburn Street between JFK Street and Holyoke Street.

Harvard Square Public Toilet
The Portland Loo toilet is expected to arrive in the area (shipped from Washington State) in mid-May, with the expectation that the construction crews will have it installed in June 2015.

Hurley Street Park Renovation
Crews will be onsite this week to continue with the reconstruction of Hurley Street Park.

Huron A Project 
Activity Description:
• Contract wide- Miscellaneous punch list items, tree and plant installation

Streets Impacted: All streets

Eversource Gas:
• Blakeslee, Manassas – Spot relocations
• Brattle (Fayerweather to Channing)- Gas main
• Garden Street (Ivy to Walden) - Gas main

Future Outlook: Activities to occur in spring 2015
• Lakeview (South)- final paving
• Larch (North and South)- final paving
• Lexington (south)- final paving
• Standish- final paving

• Porous Pavement installation in Spring 2015

Huron B Project
Activity Description:
• Larch (South)-Sidewalk
• Lexington (South)- Sidewalk
• Standish- Tree pit installation
• Contract wide- Miscellaneous punch list items, tree and plant installation

Streets Impacted: All streets

Eversource Gas:
• Blakeslee, Manassas – Spot relocations
• Brattle (Fayerweather to Channing)- Gas main
• Garden Street (Ivy to Walden) - Gas main

Kinnaird Street Reconstruction
The City's contractor, D'Allessandro Corporation, continues to work on the water main from Jay Street to Putnam Avenue.

Pemberton Street Courts
The City's contractor is scheduled to complete the painting of the tennis/basketball courts, seal the surface, and complete the reconstruction of a few sidewalk panels at the main entrance by mid May. All of the basketball nets and tennis nets are up and functional so that sports teams and residents can utilize them.

Main Street
Full depth reconstruction of the sidewalks and roadway is currently underway.

Massachusetts Avenue
Crews will complete work on Martin Street this week and will mobilize to Hudson Street by the end of the week to begin sidewalk work. A city contractor will also be grinding and paving Massachusetts Avenue at Shea Road this week.

Mead Street
Crews anticipate on mobilizing to the area in mid-June to reconstruct the sidewalks and roadway.

Muller Avenue
In preparation for the reconstruction of Richard Ave and Muller Ave, the Cambridge Water Department is currently replacing the water main and individual services on Muller Ave. There will be a community meeting this Wednesday, May 20 (Burns Apt. Complex - Churchill Ave - 6:30pm-8:00pm), to discuss the upcoming reconstruction project.

Mt. Auburn Street
Crews anticipate mobilizing to the area in mid-June to reconstruct the sidewalks and roadway.

New Street & Concord Lane
Crews are expected to mobilize to the area in early June to reconstruct the sidewalks and roadway. The project is expected to take 3 months to complete.

Western Ave Reconstruction Project
Crews are currently working on the reconstruction of Cronin Park and the sidewalks on Green Street and Pleasant Street (north of Western Avenue) and installing new trees along the avenue.
