Large Property Owners

Large Property Owners (owners of 1 or more adjoining parcels of land in common ownership that together comprise a total of 2 acres or more) are required to seek an exemption from the City Manager if they want to use leaf blower equipment during periods of time outside of the ordinance’s permissible dates and hours of use. Such exemptions will be granted upon a showing of substantial hardship in complying with the ordinance’s prohibitions. If such an exemption is not sought and approved, Large Property Owners will be restricted in their use of leaf blowers, with the same restrictions applicable to all residential property owners.

If Large Property Owners use commercial operators (an entity or organization that employs two or more employees that receive income, remuneration or compensation of any kind, whether a fee, a salary, wages or otherwise for operating a leaf blower) to perform leaf blowing activities, the commercial operators must file an operations plan with the City Manager. Without an approved operations plan, commercial operators will be prohibited from using leaf blowers in Cambridge
