Story Trade - "Back in the Day"
As part of Cambridge Open Studios, StoryStream and Cambridge Recycling held a Story Trade on May 19th at Porter Square Books. The event title was "Back in the Day...Timeless Stories About Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling" This was a unique storytelling event to share folktales and personal stories about consuming less, choosing to reuse and reducing waste. Our ancestors were natural recyclers. For centuries everybody knew how to make-do, keep the wolf from the door, scrape by, and improvise. Folklore is full of imaginative responses, basic needs, waste and greed. And there are countless stories that show how to live in elegant simplicity.
