A - Tag Markers

The City of Cambridge Department of Public Works is introducing a new pavement patch and sidewalk repair identification program for the 2012 construction season. Starting June 11th, 2012 the City of Cambridge will require that an A-tag marker be installed during the final lift of paving on all temporary and final asphalt patches and temporary sidewalk repairs.

Utility company’s markers must display the current year, your company’s unique identification lettering and be the correct color that has been assigned to your company. It is each company’s responsibility to order the pavement markers and to ensure that the tags meet City of Cambridge specifications (see presentation).

For City contractors, these markers must be GREY in color, display the current year and your company’s unique identification lettering.

For private contractors, the color of the marker will be GREEN.  Private contractors Private contractors will not be required to create their own A-tag markers, but will have to pick them from the City when applying for excavation permits. In some cases the City may ask a contractor to create their own A-tags with a unique identifier for a major project or if they are doing a significant amount of work in the City of Cambridge.
