You should only park on the street after the posted time on the street sweeping sign. Even though you may have seen the sweeper go by once, it may need to go by for a second pass. Also, the City's catch basin cleaning program is closely coordinated with monthly street sweeping in order to reduce additional parking disruptions, and that equipment may be scheduled during the same posted time period.
Please e-mail us or call the Operations Center at 617.349.4800 or 617.349.4846, and indicate the type of animal and location (both street address, and whether the animal is located on the street or sidewalk).
The City is responsible for the removal of dead animals from public property only (roads, sidewalks, parks, etc). We are not permitted to go onto private property for removal. We will, however, pick up the animal if it is placed in a trash bag or box and brought out to the curb.
If you are concerned about a pet that has gone missing that we may have picked up, please contact us. Public Works maintains records of all cats and dogs we pick up, and we store remains for a period of time for owners who wish to retrieve them.
