The Department of Public Works has completed a comprehensive tree inventory of over 19,000 public trees. The inventory contains the number of trees and empty tree wells, tree size, species, recent plantings, and vulnerability to invasive insects. This information will enable the Parks and Urban Forestry Division to better manage and assess the City's urban forestry. The tree inventory can be viewed online through our GIS system. As a result of the inventory, an extensive 2011 tree inventory report(pdf) is available aimed at sharing detailed information about the City's trees with the public, so as to foster stewardship among local groups, neighborhood associations, and schools.
