Private Property Tree Planting

New library gets tree

Think of the tree you just purchased as a lifetime investment. How well your tree and investment grows depends upon the type of tree and the location you select for planting, the care you provide when the tree is planted, and the follow-up care the tree receives after planting.

It is always recommended that you get professional advice before you decide on the type of tree, the location for planting, and the care required for that tree, before you make your investment.

The ideal time to plant trees and shrubs is during the dormant season—fall after leaf drop, or spring before bud-break. However, trees properly cared for at a reputable nursery or garden center, given proper protection during transport, can be planted throughout the growing season.

Before you begin planting, be sure to have your site checked for the location of all underground utilities, as required by law. Contact Dig Safe at 1-888-DIG-SAFE, or log on to www.digsafe.com.
