Film Showing of “Bag It”, 10/30

Green Cambridge and the Office of Mayor Henrietta Davis are sponsoring a free showing of the film "Bag It" in the Cambridge Public Library auditorium at 449 Broadway on Tuesday October 30 at 6:30pm. Is your Life too Plastic? With a humorous tone, this documentary follows an average guy as he embarks on a personal quest to figure out where plastic bags come from, why they're so ubiquitous and where they end up after they're thrown away.

Numbers Corner for Recycling & Trash

Help the City meet its goals to reduce trash 30% from 2008 levels by 2020 and 80% less by 2050. For households, this translates to 16 lbs of trash per week by 2020 and 5 lbs/week by 2050. 25% of what we throw away is still cardboard, paper, and containers! The average Cambridge household could recycle at least 5 more lbs/ week or 260 more lbs/year. Check your recycling IQ on what to recycle including cereal/tissue boxes, empty frozen food boxes, juice/soup boxes, paper coffee cups and the plastic top, plastic takeout clamshells, aluminum foil and junk mail. Please rinse food packaging to remove food residue. Further reduce trash by choosing to reuse. Visit our Get Rid of It Right page for where to donate clothing, furniture, household goods, electronics, and more.
