         Large Appliance Pick-up
Computers & TVs      Hazardous Materials Accepted at Drop-Off

The large appliance removal program allows the residents of Cambridge to dispose of large appliances (commonly referred to as “white goods”), such as washing machines, clothes dryers, refrigerators, stoves, etc. In order to have an appliance removed by the DPW, a Cambridge resident must purchase an orange-colored sticker at the DPW, 147 Hampshire Street. Stickers can be purchased during office hours. The charge for this sticker is $20 per appliance or $15 for seniors.)

Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard). Once this sticker is purchased at the DPW, the removal is then scheduled for a Wednesday or Thursday between 7:00 am-3:00 pm. Appliances are scheduled for Wednesdays and large televisions or computer monitors (diagonal screen length greater than 20") are scheduled for Thursdays.

The appliance must be put out on the sidewalk on Tuesday after 6:00 p.m. for a Wednesday scheduled pickup. If an appliance is put out before 6:00 p.m. fines of $25.00 per day may be invoked. Questions may be directed to (617) 349-4800.

Freon (chlorofluorocarbons) is removed from refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers and dehumidifiers in order to meet the Clean Air Act. All appliances are then sent to a local scrap metal recycling facility.
