Map highlighting newly extended meters between Harvard and Porter Squares

Cambridge has much to offer diners, shoppers, and those seeking entertainment or a venue to meet with friends. However, metered parking spaces are often difficult to find in the evenings, especially in areas where parking is free and unrestricted. Parking turnover and space availability increased in Kendall Square and Harvard Square after metered parking hours were extended to 8 PM, and now the same change has been put into place between Harvard Square and Porter Square.

Hours for metered parking have been extended to 8 AM - 8 PM on Massachusetts Avenue between the Cambridge Common and Russell Street, Oxford Street between Kirkland Street and Everett Street, Kirkland Street between Oxford Street and Divinity Street, and Wendell Street between Massachusetts Avenue and Oxford Street. This change will allow more access to public spaces in the area, increasing convenience for residents and visitors and allowing local businesses to continue to grow.

The rate for parking at a meter, which is $1/hour, has not been changed. Signage has been updated, and all affected meters have been marked with a decal notifying the user of the new hours. The 8 AM to 8 PM metered parking are now being enforced.
