Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, June 11, 2001 in the Directors Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• Janet Axelrod
• William Barry
• James Roosevelt
• Nancy Woods

Also present:

• Philecia Harris, Assistant Director of Libraries

Minutes of the April meeting were approved.

Trustees reviewed correspondence letters and discussed how they might acknowledge letter writers. Library stationary note cards will be forwarded to trustees to use to write responses and to use for other library related matters.

Nancy and Bill presented an update on the Architectural Selection Committee. Nancy will be forwarding general information and updates to board members. The Board decided that "Bricks and Mortar" would be placed on the Library Website immediately and reiterated that the Library would be dedicated to placing library construction information on the site as expediently as possible. A list of the twelve architectural finalists would be added to the site. A construction update binder would be placed at the Main Library and possibly the branches. It was also decided that newer construction update notices would be placed on the entrance doors at the Central Square Branch.

The trustees Retreat was scheduled the week of the July 16th tentatively the 18th. Philecia Harris would confirm dates with Andre, Susan Flannery and consultant, Steve Miller.

The Board voted to reschedule the trustee meetings for the third Monday of every month, starting in September. There would be no July or August meeting but Janet Axelrod could schedule a meeting at her discretion if there was a need to update the board on the Galbraith Lecture Series or the architectural selection process.
