Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, May 20, 2002 in the Director’s Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

Minutes of the March and April meetings were approved.

Correspondence from Susan LaPierre and Robert Clark was acknowledged.

Susan Flannery informed the board that she had met with a potential major donor and representatives from the Cambridge Community Foundation. More information will follow.

Susan Flannery also reminded the board about the upcoming Friends Garden Tour on Sunday, June 9, 2002.

Susan Flannery introduced the board to Mr. Alan Burne, Project Manager for the library expansion project. He explained the process, phases and expectations of the project. He also provided information on his background.

Susan Flannery informed the board that a Library Planner, Anders Dahlgren had been hired by the City. He will be in Cambridge on June 10 & 11, 2002 to speak with staff. Ms. Flannery will request that he attend the next Board of Library Trustees meeting on June 10, 2002.

Ms. Flannery also reported that she and Alan Burne were conducting interviews for the Design Advisory Committee and hoped to have recommendations made and a working committee appointed within 2 weeks.

This committee will meet every month for approximately the next 18 months.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The next meeting of the Board will be on Monday, June 10, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library.
