Board of Library Trustees Minutes

A regular meeting of the Board of Library Trustees was held on Monday, September 14 1998 at 7:30 in the Director's Office of the Main Library. The following members of the Board of Library Trustees were present:

• Mr. John Good
• Mr. Andre Mayer

also present:

• Susan M. Flannery, Director of Libraries
• Marilyn Gagalis, Administrative Assistant

A motion to accept the minutes of the July 1998 meeting was passed. Correspondence from Susan Cunningham, East Cambridge Savings Bank was acknowledged.

Ms. Flannery announced that Jean Williams had been appointed to the position of Librarian V at the Central Square Branch Library replacing Mark Scott.

Ms. Flannery also reported that the City Council had not yet set the date for the hearing concerning the Main Library site. Long range fundraising plans were discussed by the Board. The suggestion was made to appoint a citizen committee to solicit both business and private funds. Also, it was suggested that specific projects should be the goal as opposed to fundraising to build a reserve of funds. Board members then discussed and revised the public survey that will solicit the community's views on the future site of the main library.

The next meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be on Monday, October 19, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
