Frost Terrace - 1791 Mass Ave

Rendering of Frost Terrace

Frost Terrace is an apartment building with 40 affordable rental units in the heart of Porter Square. Developers Sean Hope and Jason Korb, through their entity CC HRE 1791 Mass Ave LLC, purchased three contiguous parcels at 1791 Mass Ave and 1 and 2 Frost Terrace in the Agassiz neighborhood and have preserved three existing houses on the site, including the full restoration of the historic building at 1791 Mass Ave. The apartments will be affordable in perpetuity, with all units restricted to low- and moderate-income households. The majority of the units are family-sized, and the project features an indoor play space. The design focuses on sustainability, including energy-efficient fixtures and systems.

The first phase of construction kicked off in July 2019 and completed in Spring 2021.

In early October, 2019, the 1971 Massachusetts Ave. building was relocated closer to the street to make room for the new construction building that will be located behind it.  Click here to watch a short video of the building relocation.

This project is complete.

A lottery was held in early February 2021 to select applicants for available units, with an anticipated move-in date of Spring 2021.  Click here to learn more.

The project contains 40 rental homes in four buildings. The units consist of 13 three-bedroom, 13 two-bedroom, and 14 one-bedrooms. There is a mix of flats and duplexes, with three fully accessible units. All units are affordable to low- and moderate-income households in perpetuity.
