Elm Place

1066 Cambridge St

At the corner of Cambridge and Elm Streets, a formerly vacant antiques mall has been replaced by 19 newly constructed affordable rental homes and one new commercial space. With the support of the City, Just A Start Corporation (JAS) completed the redevelopment of this underutilized site in 2011, and it is now part of the vibrant stretch of Cambridge Street between Inman Square and East Cambridge.

Formerly a hardware store for many years, 1066 Cambridge Street was used as an antiques mall prior to closing and was vacant prior to JAS purchasing the property. The new building was constructed to LEED Gold standards, maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing waste. In addition, a large photovoltaic array on the roof provides electricity for the common areas.

Construction was completed in 2011. The project is fully occupied.
