Join the Cambridge Council on Aging (COA) in celebrating Older Americans Month this May! This year’s theme is “Aging Unbound,” which invites us to focus on the positive aspects of growing older and recognize that the entire community benefits when older adults are engaged, independent, and included. At COA, this mission isn’t limited to a single month, but supported and encouraged every day. If you are 60 years or older, join COA to “age unbound” this month in the following ways:

  • Jam out at Senior Music Jam Sessions on May 15 and 22 at the Cambridge Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Ave., 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. If you play an instrument, sing, or simply enjoy listening to music with others, come jam with us! No registration necessary.
  • Explore Hobbies at our Monthly Classes. From watercolor painting to Flamenco dance to meditation and strength training, we have something for everyone! Our monthly activities invite you to explore your passions while connecting with others.
  • Discover New Skills and Have Fun at Special Events. Every month we offer a selection of special cultural and recreational activities. May’s happenings include pottery classes, ping pong workshops, arts and crafts, Book Group, and more!
  • Learn Helpful Information. We regularly host informational events on health and safety topics. Join us at “Safety Awareness” on Wednesday May 17, 1-2p.m. to learn how to be an expert witness.
  • Connect at a Social or Support Group. We offer a variety of social and support groups where you can socialize and share experiences.
  • Enjoy a Meal at the Cambridge Senior Center - Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m., lunch is available to adults age 60 and older. To reserve a meal, call us at 617-349-6047 by 11:00 a.m. two business days in advance.
  • Attend the “Conversation Project,” Thursday, May 25 at the Cambridge Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Ave., 1 – 2:30 p.m. This event will focus on planning for end-of-life care. When we proactively share our end-of-life wishes, it empowers us to preserve our independence and support our loved ones during the grieving process.
