    • Hive Safety Training (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Are you interested in using The Hive? In this workshop you will learn about our makerspace, how to utilize the resources we offer and how to keep safe in The Hive. Find out what you need to get started as a maker in The Hive here. Completion of Hive Safety Training is the entry point to making, innovating, and collaborating in this space. Makers must also sign The Hive User Agreement and Waivers.

    • Equipment and Studio Reservations (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      During this reservation period, anyone who has completed Hive training and is badged to use equipment or studio(s) can reserve Hive equipment or studio spaces. Staff will assist participants as they are able.

    • Read to a Dog (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      Read with a cuddly friend! Trained therapy dogs provide warm and non-judgmental reading companions for new or experienced readers up to age 14. Registration for each 10-minute time slot is required and begins on Saturday, March 30 by calling or visiting the O’Neill Branch (617-349-4023).

    • Bridging Divides: Empowering Generations with Generative AI

      Joint Family is delighted to host a special event in collaboration with Google's Women Techmakers Program and the Cambridge Public Library to recognize, empower and celebrate women in technology across ages. We warmly invite you to be a part of this unique in person gathering which will take place during International Women's Month this year. Our workshop will focus on: a gentle introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence current risks and opportunities latest tools and trends and most importantly a chance to hear from upcoming women in this space By joining this session, you'll get to try out new GenAI tools, connect with professionals from various sectors and learn about ways in which the science & tech communities are leveraging AI for positive outcomes.       Learn how to access LinkedIn Learning with your Cambridge Public Library card, for free! LinkedIn Learning is an online educational site with thousands of courses in business, software, technology, and creative skills. LinkedIn Learning can be used in English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, and Portuguese.     • Chess Hour (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      Join us for a game of chess at the O'Neill Branch! Players of all skill levels and all ages are welcome to participate. Chess sets will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This is a space for individuals to play and test their skills against other members of the community. This is not an instructional class.
