Cambridge Curbside Compost Celebrates 1 Year!

The Cambridge Curbside Composting program was expanded citywide to all households 12 units or less in April of 2018. Since then, residents have diverted 3.5 million pounds of food scraps from landfills (and 4.5 million since the pilot began in 2014).

Help us celebrate this exciting anniversary! DPW's Recycling Division will be at the following locations to talk about composting, distribute recycling info and have residents sign a "Scrappy Anniversary" Card:

Tuesday, April 23: in front of City Hall, 1-4 p.m.

Wednesday, April 24: Kingsley Park at Fresh Pond, 10 a.m - 12 p.m.

Thursday, April 25: O'Connell Library, 3-5 p.m.

Friday, April 26: in front of Main Library, 2-6 p.m.

*if it rains, events will be cancelled*

On April 1, City Council voted to fund the roll-out of composting to 13+ unit buildings with City trash collection. Stay tuned for more info on this expansion!
