The bicyclist had reportedly crashed into the pedestrian after riding through a red light, while the pedestrian was in a crosswalk. Kambay John, 22, 4 Holly Lane in Beverly, was arrested on First Street and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm) after he was involved in an altercation. During the course of the altercation, John reportedly reached into a bag he was carrying and the victim believed he had a firearm. A firearm with a round in the chamber was recovered from a bag John was carrying.

A Somerville resident reported being the victim of a past assault on July 21, 2022 at approximately 9:10 p.m. The victim stated he got into an argument with a motorist yesterday at noon time while walking on Rufo Road. The suspect then sprayed him with a substance that was most likely OC spray. The victim was sprayed several times, but did not suffer any injuries. The suspect fled in what was believed to be a Toyota Yaris.

Units responded to a motor vehicle crash located on Brattle Street. Upon investigation of the crash, it was determined that a resident of Cambridge was operating a motor vehicle that caused the crash while under the influence of alcohol. He presented with glassy, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech with an odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from his breath. He further admitted to operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. Trinidad was summonsed for OUI Liquor.

A resident of Cambridge was summonsed for Shoplifting after a lost prevention officer observed her leaving a department store in Central Square with $16.37 worth of merchandise without paying. The lost prevention officer called the police and officers were able to locate the suspect a short distance away from the store with the stolen goods. The merchandise was returned to the store and suspect was summonsed for the offense.

ALEWIFE BROOK PKWY
Cambridge Police responded to an Alewife Brook Parkway department store for a shoplifting in progress. Officers arrested Steven Ellis, 37, 1 Providence in Lawrence, who matched the provided description and carrying a green army fatigue bag with what appeared to be merchandise from the store. It was learned that Ellis had physically assaulted a store employee who tried to stop him. He also threatened to stab store employee with a knife. It was later determined that ELLIS had stolen goods in his possession. As a result, Ellis was placed under arrest for Assault and Battery, Shoplifting by Asportation +$250, and Threat to Commit a Crime. During the booking process, it was discovered that Ellis had a warrant out of Boston District Court for Larceny under $1,200.
