Cambridge Police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Brattle Square after it was revealed that a registered owner was operating with a suspended license with no insurance on a public way with excessive window tints and no inspection sticker. Upon further investigation, Guetchine Geneus, 23, 91 Pine Street in Waltham, was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license on a public way, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, operating a motor vehicle on a public way with no insurance,excessive window tints, no inspection sticker, possession of a false RMV document, possession of an open container of marijuana, and warrants out of Salem District Court for OUI Liquor, possession of a false RMV document, and marked lane violations.

Cambridge Police responded to the parking lot at Church Street for a report of a single gunshot. While searching the area, Officers located Kenneth Madden, 26, 35 Lincoln Street in Reading, on the corner of Brattle Street and Palmer Street matching the description of the suspect. As officers approached Madden, there was a red, blood-like substance all over his shirt and felt a set of brass knuckles. An officer then located a silver firearm behind an electrical box on Palmer Street that matched the description of a firearm that was discharged in the Church Street parking lot. After a witness verified that Madden was the suspect, he was then placed under arrest by officers for Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

During the incident, it was determined that Nelson had three warrants out of Cambridge District Court (Shoplifting by Asportation, Trespassing and Civil Rights Violation) for his arrest.
