    • Colors of Ukraine: Folk Art and Resilience

      In this exhibit, curated by Sophia Sushailo, Ukrainian folk art demonstrates a people's "heroic stoicism and resilience." The artworks on display were created in the Petrykivka tradition, using an intricate brush made with cat fur.

      Join Sheryl White of Baby Kneads for an introduction to sign language for caregivers and babies. In this one-hour class, participants will: Learn the benefits of signing with babies Learn and practice several signs Watch the instructor sign with your baby Learn how to teach American Sign Language to your child This program is appropriate for babies two months of age or older and pre-verbal.       Learn how to use our Epilog Zing—an industry-standard laser-cutting machine. Complete this workshop to earn a badge for the Zing laser cutter. With a badge, you can reserve the Epilog Zing to use on our equipment booking page at designated times. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this program.       Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world.       Continue building your machine-sewing skills AND create bespoke sewn crafts! Design your own fiber arts adventure as you choose from a menu of options including: bento bag, fleece hat, fleece mittens, work belt, earbud case and fanny pack. This four-part series is led by fiber artist and designer Lenni Armstrong. Registration is required. Those registered for the first session will automatically be enrolled in the following weeks.       Extended reality (XR) opens the door to worlds and experiences outside the everyday through virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality equipment. Test drive our Microsoft HoloLens augmented reality glasses, Structure Sensor 3D scanner, Merge headsets, and more. Registration is required.     • Our Path Forward Presents: Valeria Luiselli (Main/Virtual)

      In the latest installment of the "Our Path Forward" Lecture Series, the Cambridge Public Library is thrilled to welcome Valeria Luiselli, the award-winning author of Lost Children Archive, Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions, and other books. The recipient of a 2019 MacArthur Fellowship, Luiselli is a well-respected expert on immigration and immigrant rights, writing passionately about such topics in works of both fiction and nonfiction.

    • Cartoonist Keith Knight: "Comics Can Save the World!" (Valente)

      Join Keith Knight as he explores the way comics have historically been used in social justice movements, cultural storytelling, and speaking truth to power for centuries. Using his own work and the work of others, Keith makes the case that cartooning can be a bridge to understanding, compassion, and even, liberation. Keith Knight is a critically acclaimed comics creator and cartoonist. He has received the Comic-Con Inkpot, a CXC Master Cartoonist Award, several Glyph Awards for best comic strip, a Harvey Award and has been nominated for an Eisner, and an NAACP Image Award. Knight is the creator of the long-running autobio comic strip, the K Chronicles. One of the most widely distributed alt-weekly comic strips since its launch in the early nineties. His socio-political single panel cartoon, (th)ink, has graced the pages of both Black newspapers/websites, and alt-weeklies. And he drew the daily syndicated strip, the Knight Life for over a decade until 2019. In 2020, Knight's life and comix were the inspiration for the comedy series, Woke, on Hulu. Knight served as co-creator, writer, and executive producer on the show. It ran for two seasons.
