City Clerk's Office COVID-19 Service Update

 

City Clerks Service Updates

 

The City Clerks Office continues to provide Marriage Certificates, Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, Business Certificates, Etc. however due to Covid-19 the City Clerks office will not longer accept in person requests for copies of these documents.  If you would like a copy of a Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, or Business Certificate they can be purchased by mail or online by following the instructions below:

To order a Business Certificate please send a letter with the name of the business, name of one or more of the owners and the business address to the City Clerks Office with a $10.00 check or money order along with self address stamped envelope.

 

How to apply for a Business Certificate

 

The City Clerks continues to accept applications for Business Certificates however we are not accepting applications in person.  If you would like to apply for a Business Certificate, You can apply for a business certificate using a form that is available online.  Once you have completed the form, it must be signed in front of a notary before being mailed to the clerk’s office.  You can find the form here:

On March 31, 2020, Governor Baker extended the stay at home advisory until May 4, which requires all businesses and organizations that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential Services” to keep their physical workplaces and facilities closed to workers and members of the public.   Thus, City of Cambridge building closures and program adjustments currently in place will remain that way until May 4.

 

The Cambridge City Council will continue to hold regular meetings.  Members of the public cannot be physically present during the meeting, but can watch the meeting on the Municipal Channel 22-Cityview or online via the City of Cambridge Open Meeting Portal link at www.cambridgema.gov

On Friday, April 3, 2020, Governor Baker signed into law Chapter 53 of the Acts of 2020, An Act to Address Challenges Faced by Municipalities and State Authorities Resulting from COVID-19 (the “Act”).  Section 17 of the Act modifies state and local laws governing the submission and processing of permit applications to City multi-member boards and commissions for the duration of the State of Emergency declared by Governor Baker on March 10, 2020.  While the State of Emergency is in effect, applications for permits issued by City multi-member boards and commissions may be filed by e-mail to the City Clerk at cityclerk@cambridgema.gov.  All application fees should be submitted to the applicable board or commission by mail."
