Unofficial Results were updated on November 9, 2020 to include mail-in ballots received by 5pm on Friday, November 6th that were postmarked by Election Day. The unofficial results include all ballots processed by the tabulators during advanced processing, on Election Day, or during the post-Election processing on Monday, November 9, 2020. These results do not include hand-counted ballots (auxiliary ballots), write-in results, or provisional ballots.
Please be advised that in accordance with the provisions of Section 109A of Chapter 54 of the General Laws, the City of Cambridge was chosen for a post-election audit.
The post-processing of ballots will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 9 a.m. at the Citywide Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Ave. This process will be open for public observation.
Election Night unofficial results include in-person early voting, mail-in ballots received before Election Day, and ballots processed by tabulators at the polling places. These results do not include hand-counted ballots (auxiliary ballots), write-in results, provisional ballots, or on-time mail-in ballots received on or after November 3, 2020.
Voting on Election Day will still be available for those who may want to vote at the polls on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day. You must vote at your assigned polling location. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some polling sites like those in high-risk facilities were temporarily relocated for the upcoming 2020 State/Presidential Election.
The Cambridge Election Commission announced that enhanced security protocols will be in effect for the City’s six exterior ballot drop boxes. Beginning October 26, 2020, the Cambridge Police Department will increase the frequency of its routine monitoring of the ballot drop boxes, Cambridge Election Commissioners will increase the frequency the ballot drop boxes are emptied, and ballot drop boxes will be locked from 8 p.m. though 7 a.m. each day. Boxes to Close at 5 p.m. on October 31st only.
The deadline to register for the State/Presidential Election on November 3rd is this Saturday, October 24th at 8 p.m., and the Election Commission will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th to help eligible residents register.
Early voting is available to all voters for the State/Presidential Election on November 3, 2020. Early voting is available by mail and in person to all registered voters and no excuse is required. Voters are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering in the Early Voting locations and on Election Day at polling sites (except for reasons listed in CDC or Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines) to help mitigate public health risks associated with COVID-19.
