Nominate Your Cambridge Food Hero Today

The Mayor’s Office is seeking nominations for the 2020 Cambridge Food Hero Awards, which will take place virtually this year on December 2, 2020. A Food Hero is someone who:

  • Helps promote healthier diets and/or access to healthier food;
  • Supports local farms, gardens, or urban agriculture;
  • Works to reduce hunger or fights for food justice;
  • Supports sustainable agriculture or fishing;
  • Fights for better working conditions for food workers or farm workers;
  • Works in schools, own a business, is a chef, a student, a food writer or educator; and/or
  • Has done food hero work for years or is just getting started. It can be anyone who helps make food better for all of us!

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen community members show up as heroes for their neighbors”, said Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui. “Whether someone has been a food hero for years or stepped up for their neighbors during this critical time, we want to know who you think should be this year’s Cambridge Food Hero.”

Submit the name and a few sentences about why your nominee is a “Food Hero,” by clicking here or emailing your nomination to mmccormick@cambridgema.gov. The deadline to submit nominations is Sunday, November 15, 2020.
