Mayor McGovern and the Cambridge Volunteer Clearinghouse will host a ceremony for local volunteers on Monday, June 18, 2018, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the Sullivan Chamber. A reception will be held following the awards ceremony in the Mayor's Parlor.
Award Recipients
Pat O’Neill, a volunteer at Food for Free, will receive the Beverly Benner Cassara Senior Volunteer Award for her work supporting the Family Meals Program and Cambridge’s Weekend Backpack Program.
Lia Sokol, 12, who provides volunteer childcare to shelter residents at Transition House will receive the City of Cambridge Next Generation Volunteer Award.
Sachi Rodes will be presented with the Legacy of Kindness Award for her longtime service to the Cambridge Weekend Backpack program.
Peter Munkenbeck will receive the Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service for his impact to the community through The Community Builders and Just-A-Start.
Doreen Lopes-Smith will receive the Outstanding Service Award for a Corporate Volunteer in recognition of her years of service with Read to a Child at the Morse School.
The inaugural Lasting Impact Volunteer Award will be presented posthumously to Lynn Hinerman in honor of her many years of service with the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) and Community Cooks.
