Beginning on November 22, 2019, the City of Cambridge will be enforcing a winter construction moratorium. This moratorium will halt all excavation in the public right of way for the winter season. Beginning on this date, there shall be no excavation in the public right of way. The winter moratorium does not apply to work related to utility emergencies. Any steel plates in the roadway should be removed unless prior approval has been obtained by the DPW. If prior approval was obtained, the Department of Public Works must be notified of all the plate locations. Any excavation after this date will require a waiver request in writing, and approval by the Department of Public Works Commissioner. City projects will continue as scheduled.
