NOTICE: DPW offices at 147 Hampshire St. are open to the public, by appointment only, Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Appointments can be made by phone at 617-349-4800 or by email at theworks@cambridgema.gov. Individual staff are also available for appointments outside of these hours as needed; please contact the office with the details of your issue, and we will coordinate with the appropriate staff member. Many DPW services can be provided online, and DPW phones are staffed 24/7 to respond to urgent concerns.

Catch Basins Treated with Mosquito Larvicide to Control West Nile Virus

July 8, 2020: The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project began another round of treating Cambridge catch basins with mosquito larvicide to help control West Nile Virus in the City. The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project was established in 1945 as a Trust Agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and provides mosquito control services to 26 participating communities located west and northwest of Boston. 

This pesticide is classified as low-risk toxicity to humans, other mammals, fish, bees and birds. 

Treated catch basins have been marked with green and orange paint.
