City Service Schedule for the Holiday Season

City of Cambridge offices will be closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25, 2020, in observance of the Christmas holiday as well as on Friday, January 1, 2021, in observance of the New Year's holiday. Payments are not required at City of Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations on Friday, December 25, 2020, and Friday, January 1, 2021.

COVID-19 testing at the City's testing sites will not be available from December 23 through December 25, 2020, or December 30, 2020, through January 1, 2021. This is due to the Broad Institute's holiday schedule, the testing lab utilized by the City of Cambridge.

Contactless holds pickup and phone service for Cambridge Public Library locations will be closed on December 24, 2020, December 25, 2020, and January 1, 2021. On December 31, 2020, contactless holds pickup service at Central Square Branch and O’Neill Branch will end at 5 p.m. The Main Library outside book drop will be open for returns throughout the holidays, but returns will not be accepted at branch libraries on December 24, 2020, December 25,2020, or January 1, 2021. There will be regular curbside trash, recycling, and yard waste collection on Thursday, December 24, 2020, but no curbside collections on Friday, December 25, 2020. Collections will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. Also, there will be regular curbside collections on Thursday, December 31, but no curbside collections on Friday, January 1, 2021, and collections will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. The Recycling Center, located at 147 Hampshire St, will be open on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, and Saturday, December 26, 2020.

Curbside collection of un-decorated Christmas trees will begin January 2, 2021, and continue through January 15, 2021, weather permitting. Trees will be collected on each route's regular curbside collection days. Decorations and stands must be removed, and trees should not be in a plastic bag. Residents can also bring bare trees to the Recycling Center during open hours. The recycling center is open on Tuesdays, 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Streets scheduled for sweeping on Thursday, December 24, 2020, will be swept on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, and streets scheduled for Friday, December 25, 2020 will be swept on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. December 31, 2020 will be the last day of street cleaning for the winter season and will resume in April 2021.

The Cambridge Cemetery gates will be open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season.
