In observance of the Fourth of July Independence Day holiday, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Monday, July 5 and curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost and yard waste will be suspended, and one day behind for the rest of the week.

Additionally, payments will not be required at City of Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations. Street cleaning will be suspended on the holiday and will occur the prior week on June 30; signage will be posted alerting residents. The offices at the Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue, will be closed on the holiday, however, the gates will be open from 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Street cleaning and curbside collection reminders are available via text, email, or app notifications by downloading the “Zero Waste Cambridge” app for iPhone/Android. Users can also register to receive these reminders and other city alerts and newsletters, including the Daily Updates email newsletter, at CambridgeMA.Gov/Subscribe.

Beginning Thursday, July 1, the City of Cambridge will offer free COVID-19 testing 1 day per week on Thursdays inside the CambridgeSide Mall, on the 2nd Floor, above the Food Court. Free parking is available in the lower-level of the garage and entrance is located on First St. While appointments are not required, they are strongly recommended. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit www.cambridgema.gov/testing or call 617-349-9788.

The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) will hold a summer vaccine clinic at the King Open School, 850 Cambridge Street, Cambridge. CPHD will be administering the Pfizer vaccine, dose #1 on July 14 and dose #2 on August 4. While the summer vaccine clinic is open to everyone, CPHD is especially encouraging middle school students and their parents, as well as Cambridge Public Schools summer program participants, to use this clinic to get vaccinated. The vaccine is free and no ID, Social Security Number, or health insurance is required. Register at Cambridgema.gov/vaccine.
