Due to all-staff safety trainings for the City of Cambridge Department of Public Works (DPW), trash and compost collection normally scheduled for Friday, October 28 will be delayed one day and will occur on Saturday, October 29. Recycling and Yard Waste will remain on the normal schedule.

Residents may place their trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste out as usual for Friday collection, but are encouraged to place trash and compost out on Friday evening or Saturday by 7 a.m., if possible, to help prevent rodent activity.

As part of the staff training, members of the DPW Sanitation Division will receive ergonomic injury prevention training as well as safety training. We realize this may be an inconvenience for some residents, but this is an important initiative that has proven to be successful, and we are thankful for the community’s understanding.

Trash, compost, yard waste, and recycling pick-up calendars can be found in the Waste Collection Schedule tool at www.CambridgeMA.Gov/Recycle.

The city offers text, email, or app notifications of your upcoming trash pick-up d or street cleaning day. You can download the “Zero Waste Cambridge” app for iPhone/Android, or use the Waste Collection Schedule tool to sign up for collections day reminders, opt-in for real-time service alerts (i.e. snow cancelations, or changes in schedule due to unanticipated issues), import collection calendar into Google/Apple/Outlook calendar, or print a collection schedule. Users can also register to receive these reminders and other city alerts and newsletters, including the Daily Updates email newsletter, at Cambridgema.gov/subscribe.
