June 9 to 12 Traffic Impacts from CRLS graduation, Porter Square Work, and other Community Events

Expect traffic impacts in Cambridge on Thursday, June 9, due to the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School graduation ceremony and on Sunday, June 12, due to community events in the vicinity of Harvard Square and Riverside.

 

CRLS Graduation: Expect traffic impacts near Alewife on Thursday, June 9, due to Cambridge Rindge and Latin School’s graduation ceremony. The commencement will take place at Russell Field from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic will be most affected in the area of Rindge Avenue, Alewife Brook Parkway and Massachusetts Avenue. (Update: The start time has changed from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.)

 

Events in Cambridge: Community events that may impact traffic this weekend include: 

  • The City of Cambridge Citizens' Committee on Civic Unity will host a community celebration in recognition of Loving Day on Sunday, June 12, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event marks the date in 1967 when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down laws against interracial marriage, ruling in favor of Mildred and Richard Loving in the case of Loving v. Virginia. The event takes place at Joan Lorentz Park and the Cambridge Main Library near Harvard. 
  • The Boston Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival will take place on Sunday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Charles River and in Riverbend Park. The event includes a full day of Asian cultural performances, arts and crafts, food vendors and boat races.

 

Porter Square Work: There may also be ongoing traffic impacts in the Porter Square area due to median and overhead wire removal work. Click here to learn more
