CPD Reminds Community of Available Domestic Violence Resources in Midst of COVID-19

In this increasingly uncertain time, the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) Domestic Violence Unit wants to remind residents of the available resources we offer to survivors of domestic abuse. Domestic abuse includes, but is not limited to, intimate partner violence, violence among family or household members and some physical child abuse cases.

The CPD understands that while necessary to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, social distancing and shelter in place guidelines can create additional struggles for domestic abuse victims. Too often, abuse victims live with their abuser and these new restrictions, coupled with the mounting stress many now face, can worsen these issues.

If you or someone you know find yourself in need of assistance, please know that members of the CPD are working extended hours to keep our community safe. This includes emergency response for active incidents of domestic abuse and as well as after the fact follow-up support services. As a City, Cambridge has long committed to ending domestic abuse and to providing first-rate service to those who find themselves as victims, these trying times are no different.
