Apply to the Fuel Assistance Program

News Image

The Fuel Assistance Program assists low-income households in Cambridge and Somerville with heating costs incurred between November 1st and April 30th. Renters and homeowners in both cities are eligible to apply if they meet federal income guidelines. The deadline to apply to the 2020-2021 Fuel Assistance cycle is May 28, 2021.

New applicants can now apply and upload forms on a new online portal. Following online submission, applicants will have a phone appointment with Fuel Assistance staff to review their application and confirm eligibility. In-person application assistance can be provided upon request.

To check the status of your application, call 617-665-6234. You will be prompted to enter your social security number.

If you are in a no-heat situation or facing immediate utility shutoff, fuel assistance can be provided within 24 hours to eligible applicants.
