Mayor to Hold Walk-In Office Hours in The Port Neighborhood

CAMBRIDGE, MA (Monday, May 6, 2019)—Mayor Marc McGovern will be holding his first satellite walk-in office hours at Izzy’s Restaurant, 169 Harvard Street, to expand outreach to The Port neighborhood. Walk-in office hours are scheduled for May 7, May 28, June 11, and June 25, with a potential for more opportunities at a new location in The Port.

Residents of The Port are encouraged to come meet with the Mayor or a member of his staff to discuss Council business, housing issues, share ideas about how to strengthen the community, ask about how to secure a permit, or simply drop in to say hello. The Mayor and staff also hold walk-in office hours at City Hall every Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The Mayor’s Office is grateful to Izzy’s Restaurant, an icon in The Port neighborhood, for offering to host office hours in the coming month.

The Port Office Hours builds upon the Mayor’s Outreach Team initiative to increase support to residents of the City who may not come to City Hall regularly, expand resident accessibility, and to bring unheard voices into local governance. Last year, the Mayor’s Office welcomed four local-area college students and two Cambridge Rindge and Latin Students to engage with members of the public and local businesses across the city, to gather constituent concerns, and answer questions.

The Mayor’s Outreach Team will be returning to Cambridge’s neighborhoods in early June 2019. For More information, please contact Luis Vasquez, Director of Constituent Services, at lvasquez@cambridgema.gov.
