The City of Cambridge will receive a second round of supplemental funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) to meet the areas of greatest need for HUD eligible residents and businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplemental funds will be disbursed through the existing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) entitlement grant programs. The City expects to receive additional funding of $1,256,118 in CDBG and $2,286,869 in ESG CARES Act funding.

These funds will be added to the City’s Annual Action Plan for FY2020 (FFY2019) to augment programs and services that primarily serve the low and moderate-income Cambridge residents and eligible businesses directly and acutely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic and public health implications and considerations. The City anticipates utilizing this round of CARES Act funding in a way consistent with the initial round of funding.

The City will use CARES Act funding consistent with HUD statutes and regulations, as well as consistent with City priorities and strategies to assist residents and businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

All final funding and programmatic details will be published on the City’s website and will be included in all future HUD filings related to FY2020 (FFY2019).

Comments will be received until October 7, 2020, and should be directed to Robert Keller at the City’s Community Development Department, rkeller@cambridgema.gov.
