The City of Cambridge has released a new public data application for its regular citywide bicycle counts. These bicycle counts have been collected in the mornings and evenings, typically in September, at intersections throughout the city, annually from 2002-2006 and every other year since then (plus an additional count in 2019 due to poor weather in 2018).

Users can choose for which locations, years, times, directions, and more they want to view bicycle counts, and the application will create a graph based on those selections. Users can also download data to a spreadsheet to perform their own analyses. The application additionally features a city map showing the change in bicycle facilities over time and intersection graphics for all count locations. For full details on how the application can be used, read the “Background and Instructions” page in the application.

The application is also accessible via the City’s Bicycle Data webpage and the count data is available do download from the City’s Open Data Portal.
