For the second time this week, an illegally carried loaded gun was removed from Cambridge’s streets by Cambridge Police officers.
Kenneth Madden, 26, Reading, was taken into custody early this morning after officers received a report that someone had fired a gunshot into the air on Church Street around 2:30 a.m. The suspect’s description was provided and it was noted that they ran from Church Street towards the Cambridge Common. Officers quickly responded to the Cambridge Common and located Madden fitting the exact description of the suspect. Another officer was able to locate a loaded gun on an electrical box near the suspect. A shell casing was also recovered after being located in a Church Street parking lot. A witness reported Madden headbutted a victim during a fight outside a late night restaurant before firing a shot into the air. There were no known injuries from the gunshot.
Madden faces several firearms charges, including Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without License, Possession of Loaded Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building. These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
