The suspect wanted in conjunction with yesterday afternoon’s gunshots incident in The Port neighborhood of Cambridge has been taken into custody. Tyrone Bruce, 24, Boston, was arrested this afternoon by the Boston Police. He will face multiple charges out of Cambridge after a warrant was issued for his arrest, including Armed Assault to Murder, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

After responding to reports of gunshots in the area of Market Street and Bristol Street on Sunday, September 11 around 1 p.m., Cambridge police officers were able to quickly determine that this was not a random act of violence and identify Bruce as the suspect wanted in relation to the shooting. Fortunately, no residents or officers were injured during the incident, however, officers recovered six shell casings and one vehicle was damaged as a result of the gunshots. Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was sought and granted, and Bruce was located today in Boston.

“We are deeply committed to ensuring the safety of our community and have no tolerance for this type of violence,” said Police Commissioner Christine Elow. “I am so proud of the dedicated efforts of our officers, who received valuable cooperation from residents and the Boston Police, and quickly resolved a concerning incident. We will continue to remain steadfast in our focus and commitment to reducing gun violence in our city.”
