Thanksgiving Day Holiday Closures and Service Information

Collection Containers

City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Cambridge Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 but will be open their regular hours on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. Cambridge senior centers will be closed on Saturday, November 30. Parking meter payment will not be required on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, but will be required on both Friday November 29, and Saturday, November 30.

There will be no curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost and yard waste, and no street cleaning on Thursday, November 28 only.  Street Cleaning for the odd side of District K will be posted and swept on Friday, November 29. Curbside collection will resume on Friday, November 29 and will be one day behind schedule. The Recycling Drop Off Center at 147 Hampshire Street will be closed on Thanksgiving, but will be open with regular hours on Saturday, November 29, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

The Cambridge Cemetery at 76 Coolidge Avenue will have the gates open from 7 a.m. until dusk on Nov. 28-29, however, the Cemetery Administrative Office will be closed both days.

Residents can find their curbside collection schedule, including street cleaning on the Department of Public Works website.

Reminders related to the above City services are available by text message, email, or app notifications by downloading the “Zero Waste Cambridge” app for iPhone/Android. Users can also register to receive reminders for the above services, as well as newsletters, such as CityView Weekly, and helpful notifications, including snow emergency parking bans and crime alerts via text or email at the Cambridge subscription center website.
