Our Parks

Cambridge has a wealth of public parks and playgrounds. View the Community Development Department's parks and playground page to locate parks throughout the City of Cambridge and learn about park facilities, which are active or passive, hours of operation and maintenance.

Homerun at Donnelly Field

Active parks in Cambridge (many of the largest parks) contain venues for sports and active recreation. The use of most athletic fields requires a permit from the Recreation Division of the Department of Human Services. You may contact the Recreation staff at (617) 349-6238 for more information. Though reservations are not required at most court areas (basketball, tennis), certain locations may host league play on certain nights of the week during the summer. Contact Recreation for a schedule.

Passive parks in Cambridge provide an oasis within the local neighborhood for casual walking, sitting, sunning, reading, bird watching, and other idle activities.

View the Cambridge Waterplay map that highlights Cambridge parks with waterplay features, including sprinklers, spray and shower equipment.
