In his talk "Decagonal and Quasicrystalline Geometry in Medieval Islamic Architecture and Beyond," Peter J. Lu, a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University, discusses connections between Islamic tile design and mathematical formulas. At Gallery 344, 344 Broadway, second floor, Cambridge.

Boston Globe critic Cate McQuaid recommends the exhibition: “Curator Marie Costello brings together an international roster of contemporary artists who engage Islam’s traditionally non-representational approach to art-making, employing intricate Islamic patterns and calligraphy to grapple with history and the current moment.”
