On Sunday morning, March 6, public safety agencies worked together on a simulated Green Line train crash on the elevated railway outside the new MBTA Lechmere Station. As part of the exercise, catenary power was secured & trains were secured. As always, safety was emphasized.
As part of the exercise, fire companies established a water supply & stretched hose lines from the standpipe to "extinguish" a simulated fire. Simultaneously firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics triaged, provided medical care, and transported "patients" as needed.

Cambridge Fire, Somerville Fire, and Medford Fire, as well as Cambridge Police and Transit Police, Professional Ambulance, Cataldo Ambulance, and Cambridge Emergency Communications participated.

Teamwork! This was a great opportunity for all agencies to train "hands on" in a simulated major emergency on the GLX prior to opening for passenger service.

Thank you to the volunteer "patients" and special thanks to the MBTA for arranging for the training exercise in real time.
