Description

Notice is hereby given that a public meeting will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 6:00 PM to consider the following matters under M.G.L. Ch. 40C and Ch. 2.78 of the Code of the City of Cambridge:

This meeting will be held online with remote participation. The public may participate via the Zoom webinar platform (https://zoom.us/) from a phone, tablet, or computer. Confirm meeting details or view meeting materials online at https://tinyurl.com/CHistComm. Written comment is welcome up to 24 hours before the meeting and may be sent to histcomm@cambridgema.gov.

Note that cases may be taken out of order and approved at the beginning of the meeting as part of a Consent Agenda. Persons who wish to have a hearing on a case should notify the Commission in advance or be present at the beginning of the meeting when the Consent Agenda will be discussed.

2. Public Hearing: Alterations to Designated Properties

Case 4629: 88 Garden St., by Clayton Vance 88 LLC. Modify fencing and paving, add condenser and basement stair, enlarge window wells, construct rear addition, repair and modify easement-protected interior rooms.

Case 4630: 103 Spring St., by Nancy Elbag, Maureen Ford, & Timothy Ford. Construct addition at the front of the house.

Case 4631: 613-629 Cambridge St., by RPI Cambridge Street LLC. Renovate #613 (2-story former carbarn), demolish and reconstruct #621 (1-story center building), and renovate #625-629. Please note that a request has been received from the applicants to postpone the hearing to the Sept. 2, 2021 meeting.

Case 4632: 57 JFK St., by Crimson Galeria, LP, Raj Dhanda, Manager. Construct 4-story addition to the existing Crimson Galeria building.

Case 4633: 269-301 Vassar St., by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Construct landscaped open space, deck and paved areas as the Central Plaza of the new West Campus Graduate Dormitory Project.

3. Public Hearing: Demolition Review

Case D-1583: 84 Wadsworth St. / 200 Main St. by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Demolish Eastgate apartment tower (MIT Building E55, built 1967).

4. Preservation Grants

Case IPG 22-1: 1450 Massachusetts Ave., First Parish Church. Grant request of $100,000 for accessibility improvements.

Case IPG 22-2: 169 Western Ave., Western Avenue Baptist parsonage. Grant request of $20,000 for new roofing.
