The Cambridge Consumers’ Council, the Council on Aging and the Cambridge Police Department will be hosting an event on March 5th at the Cambridge Senior Center. The topic will be Scams and how to protect yourself against different types of scams.

There will be a panel discussion on steps residents and consumers can take to prevent themselves falling into scams. We will also have resources from other City departments to assist in consumer protection.

Topics:

  • Phone scams (IE: IRS, Grandparent Scam, Bank Scams)
  • Victims of Phone scams
  • In-person Scams (IE: Home repair, Landscaping)
  • Email & Mailer Scams (IE: UPS, Amazon imposters)

The Panel will include:

  • Cambridge Consumers’ Council members
  • Cambridge Police Department Detective

Resources will include representatives from:

  • Homeowners Rehab Inc
  • Department of Telecommunications and Cable
  • Cambridge Consumers’ Council
  • Cambridge Emergency Communications
  • …and More!
