The City Manager’s Office and Cambridge Public Library Board of Trustees have jointly decided to rename the Beech Room at the Main Library to the Richard C. Rossi Room in honor of the former City Manager. Mr. Rossi worked diligently for the City of Cambridge for many years. He also championed on behalf of the Library by leading Library 21, the group that conducted outreach among the Cambridge community to develop a vision for the new Main Library, and by participating on the Steering Committee that directed the efforts of the Library construction project.
A dedication ceremony for Mr. Rossi will be held at the Main Library at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 13.

On July 18, 1969, Ted Kennedy drove his Oldsmobile 88 off Dike Bridge and into Poucha Pond in Chappaquiddick, Massachusetts, after a night of partying in nearby Edgartown claiming the life of Mary Jo Kopechne. The mystery surrounding this incident still baffles some to this day. Why was Kopechne in the rear seat? Why didn’t Kennedy call for help after the crash? Why did Kennedy flee to Edgartown? Why was Rosemary Keough’s handbag found in the submerged, inverted car on the ceiling of the front-seat compartment? Perhaps, as the author proposes in “Chappaquiddick Tragedy: Kennedy’s Second Passenger Revealed,” there is an alternative theory that would answer these questions.
