In March 2018, Reuters reported that the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appointed a committee of experts to prove that today’s Hindus are directly descended from the land’s first inhabitants many thousands of years ago, strengthening the case that ancient Hindu scriptures are fact not myth. This development is of grave concern to many in India’s Muslim community who fear that this will exacerbate the marginalization of India’s over 200 million Muslims. Join Dr. Ashutosh Varshney of Brown University for the next in CPL's International Briefing series to explore the rise of Hindu nationalism.

Carl Barron Plaza (Central Square - intersection of River St and Massachusetts Ave)

Please note that we have decided to reschedule the engagement in Carl Barron Plaza that had been planned for Saturday, September 14th and Tuesday, September 17th. This more detailed engagement on the future design of the plaza will likely occur later in the fall. In the meantime, we will be continuing interactive outreach about the River Street project more generally and working with our partners to continue to gather input on Carl Barron Plaza until the process is at a point where we can discuss the design in more detail with the public. This does not change our overall project schedule. Interactive event to get input on and brainstorm design ideas for the Carl Barron Plaza reconstruction as a part of the River Street Reconstruction project.
