    • Cambridge Youth Gamelan (Gamelan Anak Tika) Performance

Main Library, Lecture Hall, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

Join us for a special performance by Gamelan Anak Tika (Cambridge Youth Gamelan). The performance will feature traditional music for Balinese gamelan, including the dance work “Bapang Selisir” and Pak Asnawa’s composition, “Gopala.” In addition to the performance, members of the group will lead audience members through a demonstration of how Balinese gamelan music is put together, what the instruments sound like, and how the instruments are played. Stay around after the show to try out the instruments and meet members of the group! Gamelan Anak Tika (Cambridge Youth Gamelan) teaches youth about traditional gamelan music and dance of Bali, Indonesia through hands-on learning experiences delivered by experienced instructors. We are proudly supported by MIT (Music & Theater Arts) and private donors in the Cambridge community and beyond. We have also been supported by the Mass Cultural Council and Cambridge Arts Council in 2015-16 and 2017-18.
