    • HLS Tax Assistance

Main Library, Community Room, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

Tax Assistance for 2020 will run from February 3 through April 13 in the Main Library's Community Room on Fridays 12 - 4pm, Saturdays 10am - 3:30pm, and Mondays from 5pm - 7:30pm. There will be no tax help on February 17 (Presidents' Day) or March 13, 14, 16, 20 or 21 due to Harvard's Spring Break. This program is available to people who generally make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speaking taxpayers. Due to capacity constraints and training requirements, we will be unable to prepare returns for any taxpayers in the U.S. on a visa, including foreign students and teachers. Space is limited. Tickets will be handed out on a first-come first-served basis on the day of the program when the Main Library opens. To get your taxes done you MUST bring: Your social security card or other government issued ID showing your social security number (a W-2 is not sufficient) Government issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) Social security cards for all dependents (and spouse if filling a joint return) Any tax forms you have received (W-2, 1099-HC, etc.) TaxHelp is an all volunteer group from Harvard Law School. The program is extremely popular every year and, while Tax Help tries to accommodate everyone, service is not guaranteed. Here is a list of other VITA sites in the area. Kenneth Headly, aka Kencaid, was born an draised in Cambridge and still calls the city home. Headley creates images of Cambridge and Boston landmarks using a unique method: he sketches the bare lines of the work on his canvas, burns the lines of the prospective piece with a wood burner, and applies paint to the outline using a paper clip. Kencaid's work will be on display at the Main Library from February 10 - 22. Join us for the opening reception on February 12 at 6 PM in the Community Room.
